Almost Friday

Yearbooks arrived and look wonderful.  Congrats to Ms. Borders and her staff!

My English classes are finishing The Battle of Jericho by Sharon Draper – can’t wait to meet her in person.  Don’t forget to bring in one of your Draper books for the book signing.

We completed a vocabulary exercise on Tuesday – make sure you make it up if you missed it, and questions from the reading that were due today.  We’ll start working on our creative writing assignment next week.  Also, we’ll have a test next week on the book and vocabulary.

Mayday Mayday –

Help it’s May already, what do your grades look like?

Research papers have been completed.  We are working on writing styles now.  Tomorrow, May 3rd, we will be going to the media center to complete a writing assessment on Criterion.

We will then be finishing our reading/listening of The Battle of Jericho by Sharon Draper, in anticipation of her visit to our school on May 17th.

Finally, Honors classes will work on The Odyssey, and you will all work on an end-of-the-year project. Each student will complete a page of creative writing.  This may be poetry, fiction, non-fiction, a diary entry, any type of creative writing that represents you in some way.  I will be putting together a “book” for each student.  Start thinking about what you will contribute!
