2nd week

We are now in the 2nd week of school, and getting settled in.  The first two weeks have been spent getting to know each other and the rules and procedures of the classroom.  We have also been playing some teambuliding games and activities, and have learned some basic theatre terms.  We have our first vocabulary quiz on Friday (tomorrow).  Next week we will tackle some Theatre History.

Week 2 of Professional Development

Three more days of planning and professional development before students arrive on Monday.  I am ready (well, other than hanging up some curtains which I still haven’t figured out how I am getting up there).  Lesson plans almost ready for week one – one more day to complete before submitting them.  This year is different since I am teaching something new.  I am mostly excited, and a little nervous since I am in a different building with different colleagues.  We were discussing goals for our students today.  My overall goal is that each student will leave my class with more confidence in his/her own ability to communicate effectively and empowered to pursue his/her individual goals and dreams.  Here’s to 2013-2014!

Last Day of Summer

Teachers report back to school tomorrow in Phenix City.  As usual, summer has flown by.  I spent today at the dentist office, and grocery shopping for the week.  I have so much work to do in my new classroom at South Girard.  It’s going to be strange not to start the year at CFA, but I am excited about my new job.  I have lots of fun things planned this year.  I’ll be working in my room for the next few days to try to get it ready for the 1st day of school.
