Love a Monday Holiday

Happy Presidents’ Day everyone!  I am enjoying my day off, but I’m engaged with one of a teacher’s many responsibilities: grading papers.  I am reading fictional narratives today.  Not everyone turned a story in on Friday, Feb. 13th.  If you did not, I hope you are also busy today writing!  When we return tomorrow, we begin Unit 5.  You will receive a weekly newsletter.  This is a short week, so everything is due a day earlier on Friday.  I have already uploaded the newsletter to the website, so feel free to get started early.  This unit, our major grade writing will be history research papers.  I will give you a list of topics to research.  We will go to the computer lab the last week in February to start research and take notes.  The final product will be due the end of the unit in about 6 weeks.  I’ll provide the actual date later.  Enjoy your day off!

Welcome to February

Happy Superbowl Sunday!  Since my beloved Saints are home in New Orleans, I really have no interest in the game tonight.  I am cheering for Jamie Collins who attended my alma mater (and Brett Favre’s too), University of Southern Mississippi.  I’m told there are at least four MS players in the game tonight.

Anyway – school tomorrow after a very short weekend it seems.  We are working on indefinite pronouns.  Spelling quiz tomorrow and grammar quiz on Tuesday.  Poems are due on Tuesday – write them in your journals and follow the prompt on the U4W4 newsletter.  We are also working on your fictional narratives which is your unit writing assignment – a major grade.  They are due revised and edited by Feb. 13th.  That’s Friday the 13th!

Enjoy your evening!
